5. Give your nails a base coat. Before you begin your nail art you need to create your canvas. 8. Care for your art. Reapply a clear top coat every two or three days to protect your art and keep your nails looking shiny. Apply cuticle oil daily. Treat your nails with care — wear gloves when gardening or doing other work, and exercise caution when performing tasks such as opening soda cans, as they may damage your nails.

It's been a chance to see the world's favorite sensationalist evolve, like a college freshman, from the hungover self-righteousness of her first column, to second-semester signs of budding critical thought.Her latest sermon is on the perniciousness of what she calls "Extreme Critic Fundamentalism"—a type of harmfully negative fashion journalism practiced, solely it seems, by beloved front-row curmudgeon and New York Times scribe Cathy Horyn. Gaga opens with a question: "Doesn't the integrity of the critic become compromised when their writings are consistently plagued with negativity?…When we can predict the same predictable review from the same predictable reviewer?" It's a valid query and the answer is, "of course." Thing is, in targeting that question toward Horyn and her kind, Gaga has missed something important.In fashion coverage, cheerleaders outnumber qualified critics 100 to one. The Internet is heavy with posts and pieces heralding the genius of this designer or the transcendental beauty of that product. Rigorous appraisals of fashion are rare and precious.Despite Gaga's claims to the contrary, Horyn is educated exquisitely in fashion, art history, economics, and many other subjects that make her an outstanding critic. She can be as effusive in praise just as she can be damning with words (both Nicola Formichetti and Gaga herself have felt Horyn's sting). As well, these Extreme Critic Fundementalists—as Gaga calls them—are some of the few people who take fashion seriously, who demand more from it, who, sometimes just through the act of writing, can compel a designer or brand to grow artistically. Rather than upending talented creatives, critics provide an intellectual framework for improvement and innovation.
Gaga is obsessed with citizen journalism, with "the range of artistic and brilliant intellectuals," she hears from every day on Twitter (is she looking at the same Twitter we are?) Democratically she asks, "Why have we decided that one person's opinion matters more than anyone else's." The answer is, we haven't—not really. The world is free to (and usually does) ignore Horyn and stock up on all the dreck it wants. But sometimes, when looking at something new and ambitious, it helps to have a true expert in the room, someone who expects more, someone who knows bullshit when she smells it. Facebook Adds Skype Video Chat Feature July 8th, 2011 | by Anil

Facebook has announced a partnership with Skype to add video chat to the social networking site.
The move is likely to be seen as a shot across the bow of Google, which recently launched a Facebook rival, Google+, also featuring video calling.
This is not the first time Facebook and Skype have teamed up – they already share some instant messaging tools.
Skype is in the process of being bought by Microsoft, which is a major shareholder in Facebook.
The new video-call service was launched by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who also revealed that the site now had more than 750 million users.
However, he said that the total number of active users was no longer a useful measure of the site’s success.
Instead, the amount of sharing – of photographs, videos and web links – was a better indication of how people engaged with the site, explained Mr Zuckerberg.
At launch, Facebook’s video chat service will only be able to connect two users face-to-face, whereas Google’s system allows group video calls, known as Hangouts.

Well, what have we here. Looks like Philips hopes to cash in on the world’s leading OS by making their line of Fidelio speakers Android device compatible. Smart move. Whereas we see iPhone compatible speakers flooding the home audio section of our electronic retailers everyday, it’s nice to finally get some Android love.

These speakers come in a variety of shapes in sizes with each speaker — AS851, AS351 and AS111 — featuring docks that are fully adjustable to fit any micro USB equipped Android device. As far as audio connectivity goes, the Fidelio speakers are Bluetooth compatible allowing you to play your jams in-dock or while across the room using the dedicated Philips app. Still no word on pricing, but Philips will be showing off this entire Fidelio line during IFA this week.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs Resigns, Replaced by Tim Cook

Today marked the end of an incredible era for Apple as Steve Jobs resigned as Chief Executive Officer, citing that he is no longer fit or able to serve as the head of the company. With his resignation, the CEO role will be filled by Tim Cook, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer.

In a press released that seems to be directed both to Apple’s Board of Directors and the world at large, Jobs gracefully stepped out of the CEO role while asking to remain as Chairman of the Board, as well as an Apple employee. Unsurprisingly, his wish was granted and Jobs will remain with the company to assist in the transition. Commenting on behalf of Apple’s Board of Directors, Art Levinson said that “Steve’s extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world’s most innovative and valuable technology company,” and that Jobs had “made countless contributions to Apple’s success, and he has attracted and inspired Apple’s immensely creative employees and world class executive team. In his new role as Chairman of the Board, Steve will continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration.”

Apple’s board members wasted no time in approving Tim Cook as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Cook has been with Apple for well over a decade, rising through the ranks to his previous position as COO. Cook was widely rumored to be next in line for the CEO position, although many expected Jobs to hang on for a bit longer. Although Jobs has been on medical leave since the start of the year, he has kept up with his normal schedule of public appearances for Apple, including delivering the iOS 5 keynote at the WorldWide Developer’s Conference in June.

Jobs has kept his health matters private since word broke that he was dealing with some form of cancer some years ago. The letter that he issued to the public to announce his resignation (posted below) didn’t shed any light on a possible decline in his health or whether it was related to his resignation. It is our sincere hope that Jobs’ battle with cancer has not taken a turn for the worse.

Below is Steve Jobs’ resignation letter as released today, in its entirety. Our many thanks go out to Mr. Jobs for the brilliance he has brought to Apple, taking the company from the brink of disaster to having the largest market share of any corporation in the world in just over a decade.

Nobody really knows if this will effect the iPhone 5 Release Date or not, but Apple likely already has a strict launch plan.

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
